Ripple Effects Photos from Around the World – College, University, and Community

There are Ripple Effects projects with college and university students, teachers, or community members taking place or being planned in Canada, Finland, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Take a look at their photos and writing!

Ripple Effects – Kinnaur, India – 2025

These are the photos and written reflections from the 2025 Ripple Effects photo event in Kinnaur, India. This project was organized by Zed Tells, “a creative and collaborative endeavour to strengthen and expand the existing knowledge heritage of Kinnaur.” Learn more about Zed.tells here.

Ripple Effects – Manitoba, Canada – 2025

Teachers participating in the 2025 Summer Writing Institute of the Manitoba Writing Project at the University of Manitoba were invited to create Ripple Effects Place Projects by identifying an aspect of water (in)justice that was significant to their communities to become the focus of an inquiry into teaching writing and literacy. These projects all include the three key elements of a Ripple Effects project: photography, writing, and publication or circulation. The projects offer inspirational launching points for educators to imagine ways of engaging with inquiries about water in their own schools and communities.

Ripple Effects – Finland, South Africa, USA

This is a Ripple Effects project book created by university students from Finland, South Africa, and the US, in Spring 2025. The students all did photo and writing essays about water issues and ideas in their communities. They then shared and discussed their essays with each other before compiling them in this book.
